Great developer needed

Description:
We are a Web development company and Internet consultancy. We have a ton of projects -- both for sites we're developing internally and for external clients -- and we need a great developer to join our team. (Despite what the address info above says, you can be based anywhere in the USA -- not just in Los Angeles.)

We use Ruby and Ruby on Rails as our main technologies on the back end, integrating with MySQL on Linux, and using Javascript for Ajax functionality on the client side -- so obviously if you're already skilled in those areas it would be a great help. However, more important than the languages you currently know is the ability and desire to learn, and rapidly implement, new technologies. If you're not already spending time reading Web sites and blogs to learn about new technologies, and thinking about how and why you might want to deploy them, you're not the person for us.

We're believers in the Google approach to the work week: we'd expect you to spend 10-20% of your time working on ideas for new sites and projects. If you want to contribute to Open Source projects too, so much the better.

We're also great believers in remote working. You can be based anywhere in the United States; we'd expect to communicate via Web cams, Skype, and instant messaging. You certainly don't need to work in our offices (which, by the way, are in Los Angeles). For that reason, this job might suit you if you've taken a little time off work and are now ready to move back into the full-time workforce, if you're new to the wonderful world of gainful employment, or if you have commitments which mean you can't just pick up and move across the country.

This is a full-time position. We pay a salary (obviously!), and we'll give you health insurance if you're based in California. If you're in any other State, we'll subsidize your health insurance up to the rate we'd pay if you lived in CA. 25 days a year of vacation time is our standard. We'll supply you with a computer, of course, and if you want/need books or other reference materials, we're very open to getting those for you. Web site development is a fun, interesting occupation, and we want to make sure you think so too.

We've got a couple of site launches coming up; we're very excited about them, and we've even bigger plans for the future. If you're interested in being part of that future, please send your resume, along with salary requirements and anything else you'd like us to know about you, to jobs@wacommunications.com. Unless you happen to be based in the LA area, we'll be conducting interviews online via Web cam.
